Terms and Conditions
1) Sunday @ 8 Ltd does not promote gambling or other games of chance.
2) The aim of this site is to award those who demonstrate knowledge and skill in the quickest time.
3) No entrant may play any competition unless they agree to the terms and conditions herein set out.
4) By reading these terms and conditions and entering the competition all entrants agree to be bound by them.
5) All competitions on this site are operated by Sunday @ 8 Ltd.
6) Sunday @ 8 is also referred to in these Terms as "we", "us" and "our", in relation to the online skill competition.
7) YOU MAY NOT ENTER THIS COMPETITION FOR MONEY UNLESS YOU ARE AT LEAST 18
The Competition / Rules
8) The competition as referred to in these terms includes all quiz questions and other tasks.
9) The competition will commence at 8pm GMT each Sunday
10) Although linked with GMT, the precise timing of which is taken from the Sunday @ 8 web server.
11) The player must refresh the page to load the first question.
a) Should the quiz remain inactive (dormant) for 30 minutes the quiz will close for that particular player. To avoid this the player should refresh the page before 30 minutes have elapsed.
12) The player will only proceed to subsequent questions by correctly answering the question they are attempting.
13) Any incorrect answer will result in a time penalty. For a free text answer this is a 45 second penalty and for multiple choice this is a 60 seconds.
14) The winner is the person who correctly answers question 20 in the earliest time as recorded on our system. This is the time nearest to 8pm. This means that the winner need not be the quickest to complete the quiz if that entrant started the quiz late.
15) Since the recording of the responses is computerised entrants must take care to write their responses accurately with the correct spelling.
a) Answers are invariably spelt in accordance with Anglicised spelling or as per the Oxford English Dictionary entry
b) Although not case sensitive answers must accord precisley with that as recorded on the Sunday @ 8 system. The incorrect use of words such as 'A' or 'The' or the omission of such where the question requires such will result in the answer being determined incorrect by Sunday @ 8's programme.
16) The prize fund will be approximately 66% of all payments made for entry into the particular competition being played.
17) Sunday at 8 reserve the right to alter the amount of the prize fund to allow for administrative payments and other payments for the promotion of the competition/s.
Entry
18) The competition is open any person aged 18 years or over, unless specified otherwise.
19) Employees, associates and clients and members of their immediate families (including any live-in partner) of Sunday @ 8 Ltd (see the end of these terms and conditions below for details), are ineligible to enter. Any such entries will be invalid.
20) Sunday @ 8 Ltd reserves the right to ask for proof of age and evidence to verify the identity of an entrant at any time, and may use any channels and methods available to carry out checks of any details provided.
21) The timing of all entrant's answers will be recorded to 1/100th of a second.
22) The declaration of the winner (s) will be based on the timings as recorded on Sunday @ 8's web server. This will be based on when the final answer is received and recorded on our system
23) The winner will be notified as soon as reasonably practical after the competition has ended, or as otherwise indicated in the competition information. He/she will be contacted on the phone number provided or email provided when entering the competition.
24) As soon as reasonably practicable thereafter the winner will receive the prize as advertised at the time the competition commences.
25) If successful contact is not made, or they do not respond or make a claim within 28 days of the competition closing, the prize will be forfeited. For these purposes the competition will be deemed closed 30minutes after the recorded winning time.
26) Should an entrant take advantage of any discount the prize fund will be reduced to reflect the reduced entry fee. This reduced fee will always be the final quiz played.
Liability
27) Entry fees are non-refundable. Sunday @ 8 cannot be held liable to entrants who have paid the entry fee but for whatever reason are unable to participate.
28) Entrants should be aware that by signing on to take the quiz (even in advance), their entry fee is paid and they commit themselves to taking the quiz. Since entry fees are non-refundable entrants should ensure that by signing on to take the quiz they are available to participate at the required time.
29)Sunday @ 8 can take no responsibility for any technical issue or fault which affects the ability or timing of the entrant submitting their answers.
30)Whilst attempts are made to ensure questions and answers are readily viewable without the need to scroll, certain questions such as those involving a picture may necessitate the user to scroll the page. Computer monitors and screens vary and Sunday @ 8 cannot be held liable for such which necessitate the need to scroll.
31) Sunday @ 8 cannot be held liable for computer crashes, slow processing, slow internet provision or operating systems or other computer glitches.
32) Entrants are deemed to appreciate and accept such unforeseeable possibilities when entering the competition.
33) In the event of a dispute Sunday @ 8 Ltd will be the final arbiter.
34) In the event of a tie, the prize fund will be apportioned between all winning entrants.
35) In order to encourage transparency Sunday @ 8 Ltd are anxious to advertise past winners and by entering the competition all entrants agree to have their names displayed.
36) All entrants should be aware that contact details of all entrants will be retained and will be available for inspection should the need arise.
37)The sending of information via the internet is not totally secure and on occasion such information can be intercepted. We cannot guarantee the security of data that you choose to send us electronically, Sending such information is entirely at your own risk.
38) Sunday @ 8 Ltd may refuse to provide a prize, or seek its recovery, in the event of non-entitlement under these terms or an entrant's breach of these terms, fraud or dishonesty, including but not limited to the use of technology to gain an unfair advantage or which enables an entrant to evade charges when entering the competition.
39) Sunday @ 8 Ltd reserves the right in its sole discretion to withhold delivery of the prize until such proof of eligibility and identity has been confirmed or to disqualify the entrant from the competition.
40) Whilst all efforts are made to review and authenticate answers, Sunday @ 8 Ltd cannot be held liable for any loss, real or otherwise resulting from questions, tasks and answers that are challenged.
41) Disputes over ambiguous questions or answers will not invalidate any competition since for the purpose of these competitions the correct answers are those recorded as being correct with Sunday @ 8 Ltd.
42) Sunday @ 8 Ltd reserves the right to add to or otherwise amend these Terms and Conditions. Contestants will be notified of such amendments via the web-site. It is the responsibility of the entrant to read and familiarise themselves with any amendments since they will be deemed to have accepted such changes when they sign up to play the quiz.
